EKITI State University, EKSU, Alumni Association will, tomorrow, bestow an award on the Adviser to  President Goodluck Jonathan on Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Kingsley Kuku, for his numerous assistance and deep association with his alma- mater. At a meeting in Ado-Ekiti, yesterday, the national president of the association, Mr. Bola Ogunlayi, said Kuku would be the second beneficiary of the award since the inception of the association.

UNIABUJA postpones exams due to students’ protest


The management of the University of Abuja has postponed examinations for final year students due protest by students over non-accreditation of engineering and medical courses by the National Universities Commission(NUC).
The examination, scheduled to start on Monday, could not hold because the aggrieved students locked the gate to the main campus of the institution and prevented members of staff and fellow students from entering the school.

Husband, wife bag PhD same day in UNILAG

A couple who obtained PhD in different disciplines the same day, two brainy female students and some distinguished Nigerians stole the show at the 50th convocation of the University of Lagos.
The couple were not born the same day. Neither did they attend the same primary and secondary schools. They are also not from the same state. The husband is from, Ilaje, Ondo State while the wife is from Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Fate and love for knowledge, however, brought them together at the University of Lagos. And because they are both made for scholarship, the two were among the students and distinguished Nigerians that were celebrated at the UNILAG’s Golden Jubilee Convocation last week.

22,000 Youths apply for 3,000 job Vacancies


No fewer than 22, 000 Osun State youths have applied for employment under the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme of the Federal Government.
A statement by the state Communications Officer, Sure-P, Mr. Tewogbade Latona, on Monday said only 3, 000 vacancies were available.
Dismissing the insinuation that Sure-P is a political propaganda by the Federal Government, the Chairman of the project, Dr Bayo Faforiji, said the programme was evolved in the interest of the masses.
